Business Consultant Website

How to Create an Exciting Business Consultant Website!

Let’s face it, professional services websites can be a little boring. Usually there is not much in the way of visual content, but rather lots of text, white papers, case studies, etc. So how can you make a business consultant website visually exciting without making it appear unprofessional? Well, that depends on the client.

The best place to get started is the brand logo. Are there colors and textures that can be incorporated in the design? Some brand logos can be altered to become background images or used as icons on a business consultant website. And by alternating the logo colors and other graphic elements you can break up big sections of text only content to be more visually appealing. And that helps not only comprehension, but the overall user experience as well.

So if you think that a business consultant website has to be dry and boring think again! Our expert team can help you create engaging content and package it in an elegant and user friendly responsive website.

WEBDESIGN TIP: Use Graphic Design Elements for Visual Impact!

The CEO of Leda Business Consulting contacted us after another client referred her to us. By that time Sheryl had already spent time and money with another agency without getting the results she needed. When she learned about our process for creating engaging and highly visible brands and websites she hired us on the spot!

Since there was a lot of work to be done we divided it into separate phases to keep the project more manageable for the client. Phase one involved the creation of a new brand identity, logo, and business cards. We appreciate the help and experience of our strategic partner United Reprographics with this phase!

Next came the content strategy and creation part. We photographed Sheryl and her clients interacting in a variety of professional settings and used these images to illustrate her services. At the same time we created all new content and added organic keywords to be used in the SEO campaign.

The final phase was the design of a user-friendly responsive business consultant website that looks and works great on all devices and is easy to update for the client. In order to make the site visually attractive we incorporated graphic elements to break up large chunks of text. Sheryl is especially happy that we were even able to incorporate her favorite color, PINK, in both her brand and her website, which is not easy in a business consultant website.

Mobile E-Commerce Website

Why You Need a Mobile E-Commerce Website!

Most of you have bought things from an e-commerce website. Some of you may even do most or all of your shopping online. Even a few years ago that involved sitting in front of a desktop or laptop computer. No more! The mobile shopper wants a mobile e-commerce website and expects it to work great on their tablet, and even their smart phone. If your e-commerce site is not quick and easy they will move on to one that is. And that is a lost sale for you!

An engaging mobile e-commerce website needs to be fully responsive in order to compete in today’s mobile market place. Great images are a must, at optimal resolution for any device, of course. At the same time the transactions need to be transparent and highly secure to instill trust. Not a simple thing to put together!

Our expert team can create the engaging content you need for a visual marketing campaign, package it in a mobile e-commerce website, get search engines to crawl it, and promote it on social media. And we provide our clients with regular performance analytics and fine tune their campaign strategies as needed.

Responsive Business Website

What a Responsive Business Website Can Do For You!

Not all that long ago some businesses did not even have a website. Now everyone from senior executives to sales reps and service technicians expect to take the company website on the road with them. Of course it needs all the functionality it has on the office PC. And that is exactly why you need a responsive business website. Having a mobile friendly website is essential for any business that wants to be considered tech savvy or at least aware of modern trends.

There are more benefits to having a responsive business website. Most people check out businesses before ever buying from or contacting them. In the digital age that usually means a tablet or even smartphone. If they have an engaging experience they are much more likely to take the next step. So regardless if you are looking for the next big account or the star talent to help you manage it a responsive business website will make it easier.

Non-Profit Organization Website

Focus on The Important Things First!

Regardless what cause the support non-profit organizations have two primary needs: donations and volunteers. In order to be effective a non-profit organization website needs to focus on these primary needs. By adding additional content that explains the mission and focus of the non-profit organization you can further engage your audience. Be sure to indicate how donations and volunteers make a difference on the receiving end.

An effective non-profit organization website needs to provide all of the above information in an easy to navigate manner. One very effective way to do so is to include all volunteer and donations related info in the footer of every page to make it easily accessible. You can also add your social media links and newsletter signup form to give visitors and potential supporters more ways to engage with you.

And this mobile friendly responsive non-profit organization website provides a great mobile experience as well.

In phase two of this project we plan to add a blog and connect additional social profiles to increase organic reach and engagement. At that time we will also develop an effective editorial calendar that is easy for the client to follow and implement. Professional Services Website

Many professional services companies, including many accountants and similar service providers, do not have a website at all. Hard to believe, isn’t it? But especially in older firms a professional services website just never really ranked very high on the list of priorities. And if the owner does not see the value generally not much happens, especially if the firm is busy. But that is not a good long term strategy.

Every professional services provider faces competition these days! And many of your potential new clients will look for you, and expect to find you, online. And the experience better be mobile friendly, engaging and informative with enough visual content to make it easily understood by a large and potentially diverse audience.

And the only effective way to stand out is with a professional services website. We can combine your professional experience and reputation with a personal touch that will make you more engaging to existing and prospective clients, and help you stand out from your competition.

Book and Cover Design

How To Make Your Book Stand Out!

You may think so with all the tablets and e-publications out there. But we can assure you that books are alive and well. Of course, a lot of material is consumed online these days,  but there are an equal number of books, manuals, and reports printed every day. It is still a pretty crowded market place. You need to look good in order to stand out. And that means you need professional book and cover design. A graphic design team can polish the look of your work and make it stand out.

A well designed cover is more effective for marketing and sales of your book, and well laid out pages ensure a better experience for the reader. Good typography and graphic design can greatly add to any book and cover design. And by working with an experienced team you can add that little personal touch not available from a template.

At the same time you need your book to print in a cost effective way. Most book and cover design projects include print project management, which can save you a lot of time and money.

At that time we will also develop an effective editorial calendar that is easy for the client to follow and implement. Our team will work with Bicycles for Humanity Seattle as needed to ensure continued engagement with existing and potential supporters of this worthwhile cause. We hope that you will support them as well!

Architect Website

The Benefits of an Architect Website!

Architects generally do not offer their services online, and very few architects offer generic building plans for sale on their website. Some architects are even lucky enough to generate new business through trade organizations, referrals from existing clients, and even partnerships with general contractors. So why exactly do you need an architect website?

At the very least having an architect website provides you with the following opportunities:

  1. Showcase your existing work
Potential clients may know of your general reputation and experience, but how familiar are they with your design style and body of work? Your website is a great way to showcase your work, display awards, and list news and media articles. This gives potential clients an engaging way to get to know you!
  2. Explain your process
Building a new home or renovating an existing one is one of the biggest projects a homeowner will undertake. By explaining your process, the different phases involved and what your clients can expect in each of them can greatly reduce the fear of the unknown. This will help potential clients to move through the decision making process, ask all relevant questions and address potential concerns beforehand. You will establish yourself as a trusted resource and an expert, and that is what your potential clients expect from you.

A basic architect website should feature your work and awards, tell a little bit about yourself and your firm, and give potential clients an easy way to contact you. You may also want to consider adding a blog, short videos about your projects and process, and connecting them to your social profiles. We can help you with all of that!

When Jeremy Miller contacted us he was a very well known architect with 30+ years of experience. What he did not have was a website, and that made it difficult for potential clients to see his work. Jeremy was interested in discussing how an architect website would benefit his firm, and we were happy to help!

To reflect his design style Jeremy wanted to focus on big bold images instead of a lot of text. Our team started by helping him organize his portfolio, including the digital capture of dozens of printed images, newspaper articles, etc. We also added new images from more recent projects.

The final phase involved designing a one-page parallax website that is easy to navigate and very mobile friendly. As Jeremy wanted his beautiful designs now have a fitting online showcase.

Food Blog

Why a Blog?

Not everyone needs a fully developed website. If you are not a business or service provider, and if you don’t need to sell products online, you may be better off with a personal blog. Most of us have opinions or expertise in at least one area, and want to share that. Many people write their own blog for that very reason. One of the more popular blog types is a food blog. Bloggers tend to write on just about everything from their favorite recipes to their favorite restaurants. And since most people like to eat food blogs are very popular with readers as well!

As a result your food blog will not be the only one out there. In order to make your blog stand out you need to do one of the following:

  1. Pick a specific culinary style!
Maybe you come from an Italian family or specialize in a gluten-free diet. Use your specific knowledge to your advantage and specialize on related content in your food blog.
  2. Custom design your blog!
Custom features and a unique design, including a clearly identifiable brand image, combined with visual content can really make your food blog stand out from the crowd!

We combined the above approach on a number of projects and look forward to creating your perfect food blog as well!

When this client first approached us she was in a bit of a bind. She was nominated to be a “celebrity food blogger” judge at an Iron Chef type of fundraiser, but had no actual food blog! As an expert cook she had plenty of Mediterranean style recipes and step-by-step images to go with them. We had to take it from there.

Our team started by creating an easily recognizable brand image based on the preferred name of the food blog and used to to develop the overall visual identity. Once the design was established we moved it over to the popular Tumblr blogging platform. This gives the client ease of use and great reliability and security. Based on a regular posting schedule the client has been successful in growing her audience.

And she did a wonderful job as a food blogger judge!

Japanese Restaurant Website

Make Them Feel at Home!

Japanese food is very popular, and as a result so are Japanese restaurants. In addition to local foodies they also attract visitors and newcomers from Japan. Many of them want to experience a familiar atmosphere, including Japanese comfort food, and the opportunity to talk in their native tongue. And for this reason an effective and engaging Japanese restaurant website needs to be bi-lingual!

By having a bi-lingual Japanese restaurant website you clearly indicate that you welcome and are ready for local and foreign visitors. This is especially important for visitors who speak little or no English, and feel more comfortable ordering in their native tongue. And you never know, maybe some of the locals will pick up a phrase or two!

Make your guests feel welcome! Regardless if you need a Japanese restaurant website or one for a Thai, French, or Indonesian restaurant be sure it is bi-lingual.

When the owner of Izakaya Maekawa, a traditional Japanese style restaurant, wanted to update their menus they asked our team for help. After we discovered that they did not have a restaurant website we recommended creating both a printed and online version of their various food, drink, and appetizer menus. We started by having a photographer in the restaurant for a few days to photograph all the menu and drink items.

Combining the resulting images of their specialty items with a modern design resulted in colorful, washable menus printed on recyclable vinyl as well as a user friendly and informative Japanese restaurant website that provides all necessary info in both Japanese and English. The excited owner even told us that the sale of some menu items have increased since our team worked with them.

Brand Strategy

What is an Effective Brand?

More than just your logo, your brand is the voice in which you communicate with existing and potential clients. In order to have an effective voice you need to have an effective brand strategy. The first step is to develop your brand logo; you will use it to brand your entire online and print presence. An effective logo is simple, easy to recognize, and works well at any size and resolution. You all recognize a certain swoosh or a fruit with a bite out of it, don’t you! The most effective brand logo no longer needs the brand name.

Once you have an effective brand logo you should consider where and how you plan to use it. Perhaps you need horizontal and vertical versions of your logo, or one without your tagline. Having a one or two color logo can be very effective and save you money on printing costs. You also should consider getting a web icon based on your logo to use as a profile image on professional and social networks.

Your brand strategy also needs to include a brand style guide that defines colors, fonts, sizes, variations and any other instructions on how to use your brand collateral. This will ensure that your brand is reproduced accurately across all online and print media.

Finally, make sure that you get your logo in a variety of file types for both print and web use. Your web designer, commercial printer, and social media manager will all thank you for that!

Our team  worked with TAGZ to design and develop an effective brand strategy based on the digital hang tag the company pioneered. The primary application would be online use, but since the client also marketed at trade shows and conventions we anticipated other uses such as trade show displays and large format signage.

To keep the logo simple we designed a bold primary image and created different versions and icons in both color and grayscale versions. This enables the client to use the logo for any application in a very cost effective way. To further enhance their brand strategy we also designed a variety of marketing collateral around their new brand logo, including business cards, cards and envelopes, mailing labels, posters and even product prototypes.

Catalog Product Photography

Your Image Is Everything!

In our mobile and connected world most shoppers expect to first learn about your products online, and many will never actually visit a store to see the actual item. If your item does not look its best in your print and online catalogs, other marketing materials, and on your social media platforms you will loose potential customers to your competitors. We can put your products in the best possible light by providing you with professional catalog product photography services!

More than just placing a few products on a flat surface and snapping away, catalog product photography involves photo and set styling, advanced lighting techniques, and a full range of image post-production services such as color correction to match originals or background removal. Trained professionals with access to a fully equipped photo studio are more expensive than hiring an amateur, that’s true! But if you need the best possible results quickly to meet a deadline they are  equipped to handle the job. And isn’t your image worth the extra cost and effort?

Within 48 hours we received all the products and varieties, carefully styled all sets according to the client’s instructions, and provided them with studio photography as well as full post production services, and delivered final print and web files,  It took our team a lot longer to eat all the leftovers! Costco signed off on the images, Dilettante Chocolate made the catalog publishing deadline, and Seattle Gourmet Foods was able to increase their market share. And that was a tasty win-win situation for all!

Artist Portfolio Website

Think Of It As Your Very Own Online Art Gallery!

Artists don’t have it easy. To make a living they not only have to create art, they have to market and sell it as well. That used to mean carrying around your portfolio to show to potential clients, mailing slides of your art to galleries across the country, and answering a lot of questions. Very time consuming, and not overly effective. An artist portfolio website is a lot more efficient, and it gives you some cool options not always available in a printed portfolio.

An artist portfolio website allows you to:

  1. Reach potential buyers, collectors, and galleries around the world
  2. Show artwork that has already sold and is no longer in your possession
  3. Sell your own artwork directly and collect payment online

More and more artist are realizing that gallery shows and a print portfolio simply are not sufficient in the modern online world. A responsive website with a sortable portfolio will greatly increase visibility. Social sharing functionality and an interactive blog for short updates as well as comments from potential buyers further enhances the visitor experience.

We also created a simple Japanese seal or “chop” of his name to use as a logo on his business cards and on his website. The overall effect is classy, yet artsy, and serves the intended purpose very well.

Electrical Contractor Website

How Will Your Customers Use Your Website?

While many professional tradesmen can’t provide their services online they still benefit from having an user-friendly online presence. Giving your customers the ability to engage with you directly, ask questions, read reviews, and share the experience with their friends will enhance their experience and your engagement. But have you considered under which conditions your customers will most likely use your website?

If you are an electrical or similar contractor potential clients will look for your electrical contractor website for one of the following:

  1. They are looking for your help with a major minor or major project.
With today’s mobile consumer you need to expect that your next potential client will expect to find you online while using their smartphone or tablet. So make sure they have a great mobile experience by having a responsive website.
  2. Or because thev power went out!
Clients without power will frantically look for you on their iPhone. Be sure to make your phone number prominent and easy to see in low light.

If your customers have an engaging experience they will recommend and refer you to their friends. So you should evaluate if your electrical contractor website meets these standards. If it doesn’t we can help!

Retail Store website

What Can a Website Do for You?

Small retail stores, especially those catering to a select customer base, mainly rely on their reputation, selection, and walk-in traffic to generate sales. Many of you are not sure if the money spent on a retail store website is really a good investment. And while most small retail stores may not initially sell online even a small retail store website can help you reach and engage new potential customers.

Your online presence will introduce you to a potentially much larger audience, allow potential customers to view new arrivals or specialty items in your collection, and provide basic info like your store hours and location. That frees you up from providing that info yourself and lets you focus on running your business.

Especially smaller, family owned, specialty retailers can provide personalized services not easily matched by larger stores. Their unique style and flair needs to be captured and reflected accurately in their online presence. An effective and engaging retail store website will give your business more exposure while staying true to your personality.

Our team fixed that by photographing some of their collection in our studio and on location and designing an engaging website that reflects the long history and personal nature of this specialty retail store and the family that owns it. The site also showcases both new arrivals and existing merchandise for buyers.

Their new website matches thewir physical retail store so well that people frequently exclaim “Hey, I saw that on your website!” And Hutch is very happy he is making so many new friends!

Online Shop

Do you want to sell online?

While an online shop is not an option for all small small businesses and retailers it can provide you with an additional sales channel for your products. This is especially valuable if you want to appeal to clients beyond your local customer base. Maybe they saw your store when they visited your town, or heard about it from a friend or associate. By providing them with a cost-effective and user friendly alternative to visiting your physical location you can greatly increase your pool of potential customers.

And we are not talking about the next Amazon here. Maybe you only have a few items, or perhaps not everything you sell is available in your online shop. Simply provide your online visitors with the benefits of using your products and an engaging and user friendly shopping experience. Don’t forget to provide all info regarding your shipping and return policies, product warranties, and an easy way to contact you.

The next stage of the project involved the design of a simple online shop. This client does not have a physical store location, instead selling their products in trade shows. The online shop gives customers the ability to compare pricing and availability as well as order directly from the site.

Restaurant Website

Why You Need An “Appetizing” Online Presence!

Restaurants can be in a tough spot. Thin margins in a competitive market leave you with little room for a big marketing budget. This is especially true if you are a small individual restaurant owners. As a result some of you still don’t have a restaurant website. And that is not helping you! You would not consider watering down your drinks or using sub grade ingredients. For the same reason you should not consider cutting costs by not having an online presence.

Especially with today’s mobile consumer you need to expect that your potential lunch or dinner customers will expect to find you online. Your website does not need to be elaborate, but it should show a few of your primary menu items and specialties, your hours, and your location, at a minimum. More info about your restaurant is always helpful, and so are additional images of your food. And be sure to link to your social profiles and review pages like Yelp so that your potential guests can learn more about you and your offerings.

Retail Product Marketing

Retail product marketing plays an essential part in any B2C marketing strategy. The more competitive the market the more important it is to stand out. If your product stands out visually it will sell better than a brand that is not quite as bold. It really is as simple as that!

But bold design is not enough to make it work. It has to be adaptable for different uses, often at different sizes. Bar codes need to scan accurately. And the design needs to be able to be mass produced in large quantities in order to keep it cost effective.

We combined application images of the product in use with suitable background images to clearly illustrate the applications and benefits of using them. Non-Profit Website

Non-profit organization have special requirements for their online presence. A non-profit website needs to appeal to multiple different audiences. The need for donations and volunteers to support their cause is a primary factor. But equally important is the need to promote the actual cause and show why supporting it is important. Opportunities for collaboration with other organizations should be explored. And everything needs to be packaged in a way that can be easily understood.

And there is another aspect to consider. Non-profits are most often volunteer based. That means that the web design team has to take a more hands-on approach to finding, collating, and structuring the content, or at least keep the volunteer efforts focused. More intensive training, additional tech support, and even curating and posting additional content is extremely helpful to most non-profits.
